How iPhone Has Been Changed? From Steve Jobs to Tim Cook
The term “innovation” or “reinvention” has long been a cliché in tech companies. But there’s nothing exaggerated when Steve Jobs tried to “reinvent the phone” 10 years ago. It set the standard for mobile devices we haven’t seen before. 10 years later when Time Cook teased “The best is yet to come”, we cannot help but look forward to the new gadget. Before we go deep into iPhone, let’s take a quick look at the two leaders in iPhone evolution.
Steve Jobs
“ Those who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world usually do. ”
The history of iPhone started from the visionary genius Steve Jobs. Seen as an icon of perfectionism and innovation, Jobs is obsessed with the user experience and focuses the product itself than its profits, who accordingly created the 3-in-1 “Jesus Phone” that changed the smartphone market. But company under Jobs was a financial and operational mess.
Tim Cook
“ Apple has a culture of excellence that is.
I’m not going to witness or permit the change of it. ”
If Apple’s innovation was down to Steve Job then its sales and revenue increase hinges on Tim Cook. Under Cook’s leadership, more than 10 billion iPhones has been sold, 87% of which has been sold during Tim Cook’s time. He emphasizes on teamwork, users demands and market competition. But he is less-innovative and makes iPhone that changes according to the market.

Performances from 2007 to 2017
Apple’s market cap was $60.56 billion in 2006 but it doubled a year later due to the success of iPhone. In 2010, Apple eclipsed Microsoft in market value, becoming the most valuable technology company in the world. As of 2016, Apple reaches 10 times the value of 2006. On the flip side, the Apple killers - Samsung and Huawei are gaining ground in terms of smartphone sales, with the former reaching to 20.5% and the latter soaring to 26.7%, 6-12% more than Apple. Despite of this, Apple still captures 91% share of global smartphone profit. Take a trip down nostalgia road and see the iPhone sales and revenue report.

Why iPhone Conquered the World - 10 Core Features
Back to 2006, smartphones look to be of various shapes, from 2.4-inch small screen, numerical keyboard to all-the-rage flip phone. But the release of iPhone 2007 unifies the appearance - all-screen input, rounded corners, no physical keyboards, etc. Especially, iPhone 4 and iPhone 6 made a greater leap and led to a new sales upsurge. Just take a look at the iPhone innovations and core features that change our lives over the 10 years.
Design and aesthetics
The iPhone astonishes people who see it for the first time, with its extremely streamlined profile and few buttons, but no protrusions.

Smartphones have limited internet access before 2007, but iPhone gives users better communication: text, email, browsing,, Facebook, Facetime, etc.
Phone manufactures follow the suit of removing hardware keyboards but integrating the keyboard into screen.
One of the biggest iPhone upgrade. It is helpful whether you want to play music, get directions, send a message or make reservations.
Before the iPhone, we will use MP3 player to listen to music, but you don’t have to take it anymore, if with iPhone in hand.
This is unheard-of feature before iPhone, which allows to view photos in the correct orientation and swipe to browse pictures easily.
